TV3 IrelandAM

Websites reviewed by Maeve Kneafsey on IrelandAM on 19th August included:

www.accuweather.com

This website gives you a weather report for whatever location you are interested in for that day, week or further ahead. It also shows weather warnings with each report so you can see any extremes they're predicting such as heavy rains or high winds. So if you are off to play golf or to holiday in Lahinch or Dunmore East for the last fading weeks of the summer, maybe it might just tell you some good news, or not! Of course, if you are lucky and heading off to a Greek Island, it can also tell you just how sunny it is there and the forecast for the coming week.

www.last.fm

I love this website because it has introduced me to so many new artists who produce music to match my own taste. You simply type in an artist and it comes up with his/her music. The added feature is that once the tune you selected is finished, it streams continuous music from similar artists.

At any point you can skip to the next tune or "block"a given song so it won't be played to you again. So for me and the guys in my office, it is better than Youtube as it searches similar music for you and introduces you to new music and new artists. Although there are websites that mix tracks of your choice, like dj-ing software, the  last.fm  model introduces you to more new music from the genre you already enjoy.

www.doggyspace.com

A crossbreed (sorry, couldn't resist that) between MySpace and YouTube, Doggyspace allows dog owners from all over the world to come together, create profiles, and share photos and videos of their pups.

The website, based in Virginia, is part of a growing trend of niche, or content-focused, social networking websites that target interest groups looking to connect with like-minded people.

www.cheapflights.co.uk

Flight comparison website. Which seems to offer a wider coverage of different airlines than other travel websites. You can search by date or by destination. Another added benefit is that it allows you to search all airports that are servicing your particular destination.

So for example, when I was trying to book my flight to Paris in October for the mini marathon, I could see all the deals to all the airports in and around Paris in one search. Saves you time having to pop from one search or website to another to find the bargins. Of course, I didn't spot any Ryan Air offers, so I presume they exclude them. You will just have to go to Ryan Airs website directly to see what is on offer. Be careful not to miss the last bus from Paris to Beauvais airport, as we did last time, it makes the discount flight not so discount. Not to mind dangerous when your taxi driver travels at a steady 150km so that you don't miss your "cheap" flight home.

www.asos.com

So wet you can't even contemplate shopping, and not to mention your fairly low reserves after the holiday bills are paid. So if you feel the need for some retail therapy why not stay dry and head off to this webwsite, who are aiming to become the amazon.com of online fashion.

Great selection with over 14,000 products on its website and 600 new options added every week. You will find clothes to suit anyone from age 13 up. There is a wide variety of prices so you don't have to break the bank. A nice touch is that when you order they also show you the accessories that might go with your selection and you can easily add these to your order. They have plans to add a marketplace for second-hand clothes and homepages tailored for customers, so we will update you if this happens. Delivery charges seem to be included in the price. I was not charged any extra to deliver two dresses to Dublin.
