Websites reviewed by Maeve Kneafsey on Irelandam on 05th August included a look back at some of the better price comparison websites reviewed previously:
http://www.compareireland.ie/ Compare thousands of products and services in Ireland. Some of the categories are particularly strong such as cars, but others a little thin on the ground in terms of comparisons.
www.itsyourmoney.ie This website, set up by the Financial Regulator, provides consumers with independent information on financial products. The information is designed to help you make choices about which mortgage, credit card, personal loan or insurance suits you.
You might use the information to:
1) save money on your motor insurance
2) get the best deal on your mortgage
3) shop around for the cheapest credit card
4) decide on your life insurance needs
5) look for the best value personal loan.
There's a great selection of calculators which are really easy to use to help you set a budget or decide on how much you can afford to raise for your mortgage.
www.pricerunner.co.uk This website basically allows you to compare the price of different popular products (mostly electronic) before you buy, as well as including reviews from both consumers and experts. It really does save you money and especially on games (such as the Wii) or digital cameras. I figure I saved about €100 on the quote I got for a Wii including the delivery costs. No shipping charges applied for this purchase, but this is not always the case.
www.cruisecompare.com This is a new website set up by traditional travel agents to compete with the deals being offered online for cruises. You register what you are looking for e.g. a cruise for two weeks, in the Med. for a family of 4 and the individual travel agents will send you their best offers by email. You can then call them to check details and make a booking. You can make some fantastic savings and defintely they can be cheaper than the online offers.
http://www.callcosts.ie Designed to help us consumers compare the cost of mobile phone, fixed line and broadband operators. It cleverly asks you to fill in some details of what your particular needs are and reflects this in the results it presents.
