For a clear and well informed view of world financial markets, I'd recommend cnbc.com. It's easy to follow and the constant updates keep you in tune with financial markets and share prices.I usually select the European tab on the homepage to get more local coverage and updates

Motley Fool website is one of my all time favourite websites. This website is full of good sense and practical advice on financial matters. The advice is good not only for those who are or would like to be investors, but for the rest of us consumers who need to make some sensible decisions in the current climate. For example some of their tips include the 60 second guide to short term savings, Budgeting for lazy people, Disaster proof your finances. I know it can be a bit American but the advise is mostly universal and definitely not too poe faced, which frankly we have had enough of.

If you want a clear overview of the budget and in particular its impact on your family or yourself, then you might try the personal finance section of Irish Times online business section. It clearly and in plain English outlines the implications covering what the state will pay (tax and welfare) and by using different scenarios it outlines the impacts on say a single parent family or single worker etc. to illustrate the reality of the budget.

Very good for local updates and news on financial markets and trends. Particularly good on the budget and inconjunction with Deloitte have some useful tools including a tax calculator, which shows you the net impact on your income for 2009 when compared with 2008. To see the calculator go to   http://193.120.151.129/TC/default.aspx

I know we have looked at this website before, but if you are reviewing your plans following the budget and in particular want to put your savings where they can earn you the best interest and also feel secure, then this offers you some very good comparison information to help you make that decision. Go to http://www.itsyourmoney.ie/costcomparisons.jsp

Great website to help compare, find and purchase insurance of all kinds online. From car, to house, to life. Like all insurance it can be a pain filling out all the information they need to generate the quotes, but a lot less painful than making loads of calls and giving all the information again and again to different service providers. So be patient. They also give you a lot of information to inform your decision before you even start giving them your information for the quote, this could be written in a more user friendly way, but if you get the best quote in the end you could argue that I am just nit picking.
